Founder of knifematerio.shop

Austria's leading shop for knifemaking supplies, founded by a knifemaker, for knifemakers.

It all started with a knife. My father was gifted a drop point hunter by Tony Bose, one of America's most legendary knifemakers. When I found out how valuable it was, I was afraid to use it. So I decided to make one myself, one I could actually pick up and use without worry.

I'm originally from Massachusetts, USA, and have lived in Austria for over 20 years. When I started making knives, finding the right materials here was nearly impossible. Everything that was easy to source in the US had to be painstakingly imported. Instead of just ordering for myself, I figured why not open it up to other makers in Europe too?

The first shipment of G10 arrived in 2019. Since then I've been steadily building stock, attending knife shows, and getting to know makers from all across Europe.

Alongside the shop, I started the High Carbon Podcast, an English language show featuring knifemakers from across Europe. I'm also the founder of The Edge of Hope (formerly Klingen für Gutes): 20 knifemakers donate a custom knife each year, raffled off to raise money for Kinder Lachen, a children's charity. To date we've raised over €60,000 for children in need!

A presence at Europe's major knife shows

Since 2022 I've been exhibiting as a large stand holder at some of Europe's most important knife shows. Meeting customers face to face and being part of the community in person is just as important to me as the online shop.

knifematerio.shop is the official sponsor of Knife Show Austria 2026 and provides some of the prizes awarded to winners across the different knife categories. This community of talented makers is the reason knifematerio.shop exists at all. Without them I wouldn't be where I am today. Giving back isn't an obligation, it's something I genuinely care about.

Everything handled personally, with care

At knifematerio.shop, everything runs through me. I personally review every order, pack it myself, handle payments and returns directly, and am always available if something comes up. No call center, no automated system. You reach out, I respond.

Many of the products I sell, I also make myself. The machine kits are assembled by hand, and the file guides, Scramfer Tools, and ribbon burners are built in my own workshop. Every piece is made to the standard I'd hold myself to as a maker.

If something isn't right, I'll fix it personally, directly, no runaround. That's not a policy statement, it's why customers from across Europe keep coming back.
