Precision Stop Pins for Folding Knives

Precise stop pins for limiting blade movement in folding knives. They ensure a defined opening and closing angle and guarantee a reliable, repeatable mechanism.

Technical Data:

Standard: DIN 6325
Material: Tool steel, hardened and ground
Available diameters: 2 mm, 3 mm, 4 mm

Features:

High dimensional accuracy due to precision grinding to DIN 6325
Hardened for maximum wear resistance

What is DIN 6325?

DIN 6325 is a German industrial standard for hardened steel dowel pins. The pins are precision ground after hardening and meet the m6 tolerance, meaning the pin is slightly larger than its nominal diameter and seats into the drilled hole with a light press fit.

What hole size do I need to drill?

Because these pins are ground to m6 tolerance and sit slightly above nominal diameter, the hole needs to be reamed to achieve a correct fit. We recommend drilling slightly undersized and then reaming to the nominal diameter of the pin:

2 mm pin: Drill to 1.8 mm and ream to 2 mm
3 mm pin: Drill to 2.8 mm and ream to 3 mm
4 mm pin: Drill to 3.8 mm and ream to 4 mm

Reaming ensures a clean, precise hole that the pin seats into correctly. Drilling to nominal size without reaming will leave the hole slightly oversized due to drill runout and the pin will fit loosely.

Tipp:

When working with synthetic handle materials such as Micarta, drilling to nominal size without reaming may give a good result as some materials compress slightly during drilling and close back around the pin. That said, behavior varies between materials and batches, so we always recommend testing the fit on a scrap piece before drilling your finished handle.
